‘Farm to Plate’ event planned at NW State CC

The Fulton Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Ohio State University Extension, and Northwest State Community College are hosting a “Farm to Plate” event next month. The free workshop is for anyone interested in marketing vegetables and grass-fed beef to local or even regional consumers.

The event will be held in Voinovich Auditorium at Northwest State Community College, 22600 State Route 34 in Archbold, on Thursday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. Doors will be open at 6 p.m.

Valerie Kinsman from Kinsman Farm Enterprises of Archbold, will be speaking about “Operating a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) on a Diversified Farm.” Michelle Wallace, Northwest Ohio Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Educator with Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, will be speaking about “The Differences Between Outdoor and High Tunnel Vegetable Production.”

Also Phil Hollingshead, Southeastern Ohio Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Educator with Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, will be speaking about “Grass-Fed Beef: A Beginner’s Guide.”

Mike Weaver, Fulton County USDA/NRCS Resource Conservationist, will highlight funding opportunities for these activities.
