Coroner rules Spencer Twp. deaths homicide, suicide


The Lucas County Coronor’s Office has deemed a pair of deaths in Spencer Township a homicide and a suicide.

In the case of Nora E. Pryba, 76, thermal burn injuries, as well as blunt force head trauma, were present, according to Deputy Coroner Thomas Blomquist. The manner of death was ruled as a homicide.

For John Pryba, 67, thermal burn injuries and superficial sharp force injuries were present. His manner of death is ruled as suicide by the coroner.

The final cause of death in both cases is still pending further investigation with toxicology testing and carbon monoxide levels.

Fire officials responded to a house fire at 1710 Berkey Road northeast of Swanton at 10:46 a.m. Thursday morning, where the two individuals were found deceased.
