To make sure its residents enjoy a Merry Christmas and feel remembered this holiday season, Swanton Valley Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, a 92-bed skilled nursing facility, invites members of the community to participate in its “Giving Tree” event.
“Sometimes, residents of nursing facilities have no or very few family members or friends available to visit and bring them holiday cheer,” said Natasha Bailey, Administrator of Swanton Valley Rehab. “Every Christmas, we celebrate our residents by making sure they are recognized with a gift or two, a tradition that is more important than ever for people who no longer have family nearby.
“Who doesn’t like receiving a special present during the holiday season?” she added. “The ‘Giving Tree’ is a wonderful way for our residents to experience that sense of joy, while making them feel special and loved.”
It’s easy to participate. Just visit Swanton Valley Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, located at 401 W. Airport Highway, by Thursday, Dec. 16 (between the hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and select one or more ornaments from the Giving Tree, located in the facility’s main lobby. Or you can call the front desk at 419-825-1111 and a staff member can choose an ornament from the tree for you and give you the details over the phone.
All ornaments contain the recipient’s gender, and a few gift suggestions based on the individual’s wants and needs. The recommended gift cost is $15 or less. Wrap and return the present(s) to Swanton Valley Rehab with the numbered ornament attached by 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17. All gifts will be distributed on Wednesday, Dec. 22.
