Seniors in the Swanton area will have a different place to meet up starting next month. The Swanton site of the Fulton County Senior Center will be moving.
Size has become an issue at the current location, the Swanton Community Center on Chestnut Street.
“We are moving because we have quickly outgrown the space at the Swanton Community Center which limits us with activities,” said Sheri Rychener, Fulton County Senior Center Director. “The staff at our Swanton location have done a tremendous job in growing that site, and our ability to continue to grow is restricted in the current space.”
The Swanton Community Center is one main room with restrooms, located near the Swanton Municipal Building.
So, beginning Nov. 1, they will now meet at the recently constructed Faith Lutheran Church, 620 Dodge St.
The larger size at that location will allow the Senior Center to provide more acitivites. Puzzles, cards, and games are among the current activities at the site.
The Swanton Senior Center and Nutrition Site is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Although the Community Center became too small, “We are thankful for the partnership we have with the village and appreciate the time spent there,” said Rychener.
The main Fulton County Senior Center site is at 240 Clinton St. in Wauseon. That location is open five days a week.
Other satellite locations are in Delta, Archbold and Fayette. The Delta site, at 101 Northwood Dr., is open Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
The Archbold site, at the Scout Cabin in Ruihley Park, is open Tuesdays and Fridays. The Fayette site at 306 E. Main St. is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
