Swanton boys awarded Arrow of Light

Cub Scout Pack 208, sponsored by American Legion Post 479, recently acknowledged the dedication of eight Webelos Scouts who earned their Arrow of Light Award.

The Arrow of Light is the highest award earned in Cub Scouts and an award that moves up with the recipient to Boy Scouts. In a ceremony held on May 20, N. Adams, C. Bellner, O. Berman, A. Hand, K. Hand, C. Hamilton, G. Tyler, and K. Vogel were acknowledged and celebrated by fellow Cub Scouts, Den Leaders, family, and friends.

To be eligible for the award, a Cub Scout must be active in a Webelos Den for at least six months and have earned the Webelos badge. He must be knowledgeable of the requirements to become a Boy Scout including the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout slogan, and Scout motto, as well as understanding the significance of the First Class Scout badge and uniform.

The Scout must participate in an outdoor activity with a Boy Scout troop, attend a meeting with a Scout troop, and go on a Webelos campout. They are also required to earn a total of eight activity pins.
