Three Swanton High School students have qualified for the national competition following their performance at the Ohio Business Professionals of America competition.
Swanton High School accounting students Morgan Dickman, Jarrett Macek, Lindsey Fickel, Deric Mersereau and Hannah Gombash qualified through regional academic competitions to compete at the Ohio Business Professionals of America State Accounting Contest in Columbus on March 10-11. Noah Kokensparger from Swanton’s Interactive Media program competed in the Graphic Design division.
Of the five accounting students competing, three received All-State State Top Ten honors in their respective divisions, with all three having qualified to represent the state of Ohio at the National Business Professionals of America contest in Boston in May. Noah Kokensparger also took All-State Top Ten honors in his division. The three National qualifiers are Hannah Gombash in Advanced Accounting, Jarrett Macek in Fundamental Accounting, and Lindsey Fickel in Advanced Accounting.
The students are part of the Swanton accounting program that is funded through Penta Career Center. Swanton students also receive dual-enrollment college credit with their high school course work.
