Distinguished Alumni induction cancelled for school year

Staff Report

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Swanton Local Schools Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Committee has decided to postpone the induction ceremony for the 2020-21 school year.

“We regret that we will be unable to enshrine a Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame class this year, but the Committee is committed to bringing back this program for the 2021-22 school year,” a release from the committee said.

There are currently six Swanton alumni applications awaiting consideration by the committee. Normally, all applications are held for five years for consideration, but due to the pandemic all of these applications will be extended by an additional year.

In the meantime, the committee is always seeking new nominations for Distinguished Alumni and would like encourage the community to nominate more people for consideration.

The committee looks forward to the 2021-22 school and the opportunity to induct new members into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
