Lucas SWCD announces Virtual Conservation Week

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District has announced its first-ever Virtual Conservation Week, Oct. 25-31, due to the cancellation of many events this year.

The board and staff of Lucas SWCD are excited to share this alternative form of conservation outreach with the community. Participation in this event is free and open to anyone, within Lucas County and beyond.

During Virtual Conservation Week, short videos will be shared multiple times per day on the Lucas SWCD Facebook page and website. Videos will cover topics such as vermicomposting, soil structure, and fall yard-care and feature a virtual farm tour across Lucas County and a Community Partner Spotlight series. Also available throughout the week will be a virtual Geocache game, kids activities, and more.

To wrap up the week, they will share 2020 district highlights and announce the winners of the “Fall” in Love with Lucas County photo contest. Details on the photo contest, including how to participate, can be found at Photo entries are due by Oct. 20 and voting for the People’s Choice winner begins on Oct. 25. All the videos and virtual activities will be available on our website during Virtual Conservation Week.
