Swanton library holding pumpkin carving contest

The Swanton Public Library is planning a pumpkin carving contest for kids. Carving will be on Wednesday, Oct. 14 and participants can show up anytime between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

The two best pumpkins will win creepy prizes. The event is open to ages 10 and up and is limited to 12 participants, so sign up early.

Carving will be outside in order to follow social distancing guidelines and still have some fun. Make sure to dress warmly and wear clothes you can get messy in.

Rain date will be Thursday, Oct. 15 between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

Register for this free program by visiting the library, calling 419-826-2760, or signing up online at http://www.swantonpubliclibrary.org.

Also in honor of Earth Science Week, the library is handing out take-and-make kits for youth, provided by NASA and STAR Net Libraries.

Enjoy a stained-glass earth project you can do at home. The kit includes all materials needed, and some extra NASA stickers. Learn more at https://www.splyouth.org/, by visiting the library, calling 419-826-2760,
