Beauty and brains combine as Swanton High School presents the musical comedy “Legally Blonde Jr.” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and March 18, Saturday, March 19 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 20.
Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the hit motion picture, “Legally Blonde Jr.” is a fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show’s instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit and sass.
The show follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.
When Elle’s high school boyfriend Warner dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she’s not “serious” enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate Emmett and spunky hairdresser Paulette along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren’t mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.
Julie Zedlitz, SHS choir and musical director said, “This is a great show about overcoming stereotypes to find unexpected friendships and abilities. I am very proud of the work the kids have put in to bring this story to life.”
This year’s musical will highlight the talents of over 80 high school students in the cast and crew.
General admission is $7 and reserved seats are $15. Tickets can purchased from any cast member or by contacting the high school office at 419-826-3045.
