The City of Maumee has closed access points to the Maumee River. No parking signs will be placed on the streets in the immediate vicinity of the river.
Many had been gathering in the river to fish during the spring walleye run.
“The COVID-19 crisis places in danger, all health care workers, police officers, paramedics/EMTs, and all whose jobs put them in contact with the public,” Mayor Richard Carr said in an announcement on the city’s website. “It is for the safety of our residents and all who serve us that we are enforcing this policy.”
