Metroparks cancels programs, parks remain open


Effective immediately and continuing through at least the end of March, all Metroparks programs are canceled and all indoor facilities are closed. Metroparks is taking these unprecedented steps in accordance with directives from public health officials for the safety and wellbeing of the community, including our staff and volunteers.

All 16 Metroparks remain open during normal hours, 7 a.m. until dark, every day.

The closure includes the Manor House and Visitors’ Center at Wildwood Preserve and all indoor rental facilities throughout the park district. Administrative offices remain open and staffed.

Facility rental and program fees will be refunded automatically, with no action required on the part of the renter or participant.

Restrooms will remain open. Metroparks staff will double, or more, the usual restroom cleaning routine using cleaning products recommended for guarding against the coronavirus.

Parents are advised to follow guidelines for hand washing and hand sanitizer for their children when using playgrounds.
