A vehicle struck a house Monday in Swanton Township. The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle injury crash that occurred on State Route 295 near Soul Road at approximately 5:27 p.m.
A 2002 Dodge Ram was southbound on State Route 295 (Berkey Southern Road), and driven by Berry Dunbar of Swanton, 50, according to the Highway Patrol. Dunbar failed to maintain reasonable control, went off the right side of the road, and struck two mailboxes. He then struck a fence, utility pole, and gas line. Dunbar then went off the left side of the road where he struck a tree, and overturned into a house.
Dunbar was wearing a safety belt, and alcohol is not a factor in the crash.
The utility pole released power lines across State Route 295, and two homes lost electricity. No occupants in any of the homes were injured as a result of the crash.
State Route 295 between Soul Road and Airport Highway was closed for approximately two hours. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Swanton Police Department, and Spencer Township Fire Rescue Department.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
