The long awaited I-475 widening project between Central Avenue and Airport Highway, including adding an interchange at Dorr St., is about to begin.
The $45.2 million project includes widening I-475 from Central Avenue (US 20) to Airport Highway (State Route2), constructing new, widened I-475 bridges over Hill Avenue and Dorr Street, and adding a roundabout interchange at Dorr Street.
Beginning this week, there will be overnight lane restrictions on I-475 between Airport Highway and Bancroft Street to shift traffic to the outside shoulders and lanes of I-475. I-475 will remain two, 11-foot lanes in each direction, with the exception of overnight hours.
Crews will also begin drainage and waterline work along Dorr Street between Holland-Sylvania Road and McCord Road, which will include lane restrictions.
The project, being constructed by Miller Brothers Construction, is expected to be complete in November 2021. More restrictions and local road closures will be announced.
