The Swanton Public Library has announced programs planned for the month of September.
Hatha Yoga Basics will be offered on Thursdays, the 12th and 26th from 10:15 am to 11:45 am. Class fee is by donation, proceeds benefit the library.
Mixed Level Hatha Yoga I & II will be held on Mondays, the 16th, 23rd, and 30th from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. These sessions are slightly more advanced, providing an opportunity to expand participants’ skill levels. Class fee is $10 per session.
Chair Yoga will be offered on Thursdays the 12th and 26th from 12-1 p.m. Class fee is $5 per session.
All readers are invited to Marty Kaback’s book club at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, to discuss “Tony’s Wife” by Adriana Trigiani, a National Bestseller and Book of the Week in both People magazine and New York Post. Copies are available at the front desk.
The Toastbusters are back, and for this month they’re tackling a book of baking—with a twist. At the September potluck/book discussion they will be reading (and cooking from) Heather Kim’s “Sweet Revenge: Passive-Aggressive Desserts for Your Exes & Enemies.” The meeting is Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Copies of this month’s title are available behind the desk and registration is required. Books are very limited for this meeting, however, so stop in, call 419-826-2760, or register through the website, www.swantonpubliclibrary.org, as soon as you can.
Tech Help Clinic
On Sept. 18 at 4 p.m., Swanton Health Care is hosting a tech clinic at the library. Representatives from Swanton Health Care will be available for a class on the ins and outs of using the internet, with a focus on keeping yourself safe online.
This program is free to attend, but registration is requested. Stop in, call, or register through the library website.
Card making: Techniques
There will be a different approach this September for the card making class. This time around, they’ll focus on technique rather than theme.
Join in on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. to make three cards in three different styles (including cut-outs and embossing). Examples of September’s cards are on display at the SPL, but please note that your final products may differ from those examples.
Class fee is $6 per person and registration is required. All supplies are provided.
The SPL Movie Discussion Group is taking on the Oscar-nominated period film “The Favourite” on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. In this black comedy, loosely based on historical events, two cousins vie to become a court favorite of Queen Anne. Copies will be available behind the desk and check out for one week. This program is free to attend; no registration is required.
Chess Club meetings are on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m. Players of all skill levels are invited.
The knitting group will meet Sept. 11 and 25 at 6:30 p.m. Crochet enthusiasts are also encouraged and welcome.
The Writers Group will meet Sept. 5 and 19 at 7 p.m. Join local freelance author Nathan Jacobs and other aspiring writers to help polish up your own work. All skill levels are welcome to join.
