Poetry Club meeeting at Swanton Library

Summer Reading Program continues

Poets in grades 6-12 are invited to come to the Swanton Public Library from 7-8 p.m. on Mondays, July 8 and 2 for the Poetry Club.

Attendees will discuss famous poetry, and can perform their own poetry for the group.

Teens attend according to the grade just completed. There is no registration required for the free club.

Movie afternoon

Come to the Swanton Public Library from at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, for a free movie. The program is for grades 6-12.

Attendees can vote from a list of potential movies. Popcorn, snacks, and drinks provided. No registration required for the free program.

Summer Reading

The Summer Reading Program at Swanton Public Library continues through July 26. The goal is to read for 500 minutes by that date.

All children up through fifth grade can sign up. Children 2 and under can sign up with their guardians to do an activity sheet instead. Winners will get prizes and their names entered in the Grand Prize Drawing.

The Challenger Learning Center of Lake Erie West will at the library on Wednesday, July 3, at 10:30 a.m. Kids in grades K-5 will learn about lunar rocks and meteorites. They will get to make their own simulated impact craters and more.

Weekly parties are offered during July for fun and prizes. Children attend according to the grade just completed in school. Preschoolers meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. from July 2 through July 23. Grades K-5 meet on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m., July 10 through July 24, and on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m, July 11 through July 25.

The final party for grades K and up and their families will be on Friday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. and includes “The Supernatural Intergalactic Magic Spectacular!” with magician Jeff Wawrzaszek. Everyone gets a space-themed magic trick to take home.

The Grand Prize Drawing will follow immediately at 11:15 a.m.
