An evening of family fun and games will be offered at Swanton High School Friday as the Swanton Parents Club hosts the annual Spring Carnival.

“This year’s carnival is extra special because it is the 10th annual carnival,” said Melanie Voight, parents club vice president. “For 10 years Swanton Parents Club has kept up a tradition that early members dreamed up. Carnival is a fun-filled, low cost night for families to celebrate with their community members.”

The carnival itself is not a fundraiser for the Swanton Parents Club. But the raffle tickets sold leading up to the carnival cover not only the cost of the carnival but other annual expenses. Those include teacher grants, help with sixth grade camp and the eighth grade D.C. trip, classroom accounts, guest authors and speakers, P.U.P.’S Books, and kindergarten welcome packs.

“We strive to help as much as we possibly can,” Voight said.

Parents club members invite area residents to come out to help support Swanton schools, and enjoy a low-cost family fun night.

“Students can see their teachers and administrative staff members running carnival games,” said Voight. “There will be lots of great food for dinner and snacks – hot dogs, Chick-fil-A, Marco’s, snacks. Magic Joe will also be back this year to host multiple magic shows throughout the evening.”

There are multiple new activities and features awaiting guests at this year’s carnival. There will be a free photo booth, new 5-in-1 bounce house, and free pictures with Spiderman and Princess Aurora. In addition, attendees will now be able to use a debit or credit card for ticket and silent auction purchases, and wristbands will be available for unlimited fun.

The carnival runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the high school.

“Carnival would not be possible without our teacher, student, and parent volunteers who help set up, run the games, help in the cafeteria, and much more,” said DaNetra Smith, Swanton Parents Club president. “We are looking forward to Friday and seeing the smiles on everyone who will be able to join us for the fun event!”
