There will be changes to the brush pick up schedule in the Village of Swanton, Administrator Rosanna Hoelzle announced at last week’s Village Council meeting. The frequency of pick up will change starting in May.
This change is the result of evaluating the service, over the past year, as it compares to the amount of staff. Other services such as park maintenance and sewer cleaning were affected by the amount of time spent on brush pick-up, according to Hoelzle.
Brush pick up will begin this week and continue weekly until May 2. There will be no weekly pick up from May 6 to Oct. 6. There will be pick ups in the summer if warranted by stormy weather.
Weekly pick-up will resume from Oct.7-31. From Nov. 1 to April 5, 2020 there will be no weekly pick up. Pick ups will take place if there is a storm that warrants it.
Village officials wanted to remind residents that Lammon Brothers takes all brush and yard clippings at their facility at 7520 County Rd 5-2. Currently Lammon Brothers is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Village is divided into four sections to correspond to one day of the week. During April and October, each section will be picked up once per week. On Monday, the area picked up will be north of railroad tracks and west of Main Street, Tuesday it will be north of railroad tracks and east of Main Street, Wednesday will be south of the railroad tracks and west of Main Street, and Thursday will be south of railroad tracks and east of Main Street.
