Man charged with attempted murder found competent

A Swanton man accused of attempting to kill his now former wife has been found competent to stand trial, it was announced at a hearing last week in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Alonzo Irelan has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated arson, felonious assault, and violating a protection order.

A report from Court Diagnostic and Treatment Center prepared by Charlene A. Cassel, Ph.D., was admitted to evidence, and based upon the report the defendant was found competent to stand trial.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for March 5 at 9 a.m.

Bond was continued at $3,575,000 with no 10 percent and no direct or indirect contact with the victim.
