Swanton High School Accounting students had a strong showing at the Regional Business Professionals of America accounting competition on Jan. 21. Students participated in four different two-hour academic tests within the Accounting division, and dominated the region by capturing 18 of a possible 28 academic places, with seven students heading to the State BPA competition.
Allyssa Westfall, Randy Slink, Tristian Gelske, Haiden Gombash, Zach Schaller, Nicholai Leininger and Seth Rains will be competing at the Ohio State Business and Professionals of America contest in Columbus on March 13-15 for a chance to compete at the national level this spring in Los Angeles.
Regional placers were Haiden Gombash, regional runner-up in Advanced Accounting & regional champion in Financial Math and Analysis; Tristian Gelske regional champion in Personal Financial Management and third place in Financial Math and Analysis; Allyssa Westfall, regional champion in Payroll Accounting; Zach Schaller, regional runner-up in Personal Financial Management; Dylan Gilsdorf sixth place in Advanced Accounting; Carter Swank, fifth place in Advanced Accounting; Randy Slink, regional runner-up in Payroll Accounting; Olivia Bergman: sixth place in Fundamental Accounting; Alexis Bergman, sixth place in Financial Math and Analysis; Seth Rains, regional champion in Advanced Accounting; Hannah Grabke, fourth place in Advanced Accounting and fifth place in Financial Math and Analysis; Katie Sienkiewicz, fourth place in Payroll Accounting; Xavier Williams, sixth place in Payroll Accounting; and Nicholai Leininger, third place in Advanced Accounting and fourth place in Financial Math and Analysis.
Swanton accounting students are in a two year program funded through Penta Career Center and are receiving college accounting credits through the College Credit Plus Option.
