The Rotary Club of Swanton’s 41st annual auction, held on Feb. 9, was very successful. Former Rotarian Gary Doyle, president at the time of the inaugural auction, was present and gave some remarks about the first event in 1978.
This year brought a beach theme and the guests dined on a delicious meal catered by Stacey Meyers while enjoying the music of local musicians Ray and Adam Walter. Silent auction items were donated by many local businesses including: Swan Creek Candle Company, Toledo Zoo, Toledo Mud Hens, McNeill Chevrolet Buick, Munger & Munger, and Fessenden Hardware. Among the numerous sponsors were: Metroparks Toledo, Farmers and Merchants State Bank, Stapleton Insurance, and Scottdel Inc.
The event raised approximately $10,000 which will be used to fund Club supported community projects and initiatives in Swanton.
There were nearly 100 people in attendance including: Swanton Mayor Ann Roth and her husband Allen Schmidt, Swancreek Township Trustee Rick Kazmierczak, Rotary Club of Swanton President Rosanna Hoelzle and her husband Paul, Fulton County Engineer Frank Onweller and his wife Teri, John and Lou Luce of Luce’s Chimney & Stove Shop, as well as Swanton Local School District Superintendent Chris Lake and his wife Sherry.
