A Swanton man was indicted last Wednesday on multiple charges, including two for attempt to commit murder.
The indictment of Alonzo Irelan also included aggravated arson, felonious assault with an accelerant specification, and violating a protection order. All are felonies.
It is alleged that Irelan attempted murder twice, first on or about Dec. 8, and then again on Jan. 5, that time using an accelerant. The accelerant specification read that the grand jurors found that Irelan used an accelerant in committing the violation, and that the serious physical harm to another “resulted in permanent, serious disfigurement or permanent, substantial incapacity.”
The accelerant specification, also known as Judy’s Law, was enacted in 2017. It adds an additional six years in prison for those who use an accelerant, like gasoline.
Arraignment was set for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
