Staff report

Northwest State Community College in Archbold will celebrate 30 years of associate degree nursing during a special campus event Thursday, Nov. 8, beginning at 4:30 p.m., in the George Voinovich Auditorium.

The public is invited to attend alongside students, graduates, and health care providers. Light refreshments will be served, with the program starting at 4:45 p.m. with a welcome for Dean of Nursing Dr. Kathy Keister. Dr. Keister was one of two employees originally hired by NSCC to implement its nursing program.

“Nursing education has changed significantly over the years, but Northwest State has done a great job building strong relationships with our area’s healthcare providers to make sure we are doing everything possible to prepare our students to stay current and to be the best nurses they can be,” Dr. Keister said.

The event will also extend congratulations to former dean Patti Altman, on her retirement. And there will be tours of the Zeiter Family Nursing Center and the Parkview Physicians Group Nursing Lab.

Since its inception, the nursing programs at Northwest Technical College / Northwest State Community College have graduated nearly 2,300 students.

Attendees are asked to RSVP by Oct. 31 to Carrie Baynes at cbaynes@NorthwestState.edu.
