• Anna Serratos was named Swanton High School Homecoming Queen.

• Swanton’s Scott Blatnik earned first team All-Ohio honors at the state golf tournament. The Bulldogs were 12th as a team.

• Nancy Berkebile Wells was awarded the Bronze Star medal for meritorious service as an Army nurse in Vietnam.

• Dewey B. Johnson, a former football coach at Swanton High School, was selected to the Bowling Green State University Athletic Hall of Fame.

75 Years Ago

• The Fulton County War Chest fund sought $1 for every resident for in countywide drive.
• A warning from Swanton Mayor R.O. Harding was printed. It read: “During the Hallowe’en season the soaping of windows by pranksters will not be tolerated. Malicious destruction of property will be severely dealt with. We want children to have fun, but they will be punished for destruction or molesting the property of others.”
