• Ohio Secretary of State Bob Taft visited was the guest speaker at the Swanton Area Chamber of Commerce dinner.

• Swanton Village Administrator John Syx reported on the planned widening and rebuilding of Garfield Avenue between Main Street and Elton Parkway.

• Saint Richard School graduated 39 eighth graders.

• Sara Bonam was announced as editor for the Swanton High School newspaper, the Hi-Life.

• Sixty-two Swanton High School seniors were set to receive diplomas, including valedictorian Jean Dernlan and salutatorian Lillian Repka.
• A Notice to Public read: “Owing to the Decoration Day Holiday coming on Sunday, practically all of the Swanton Retails Stores will be closed all day on Monday, May 31st, so that businessmen and their clerks may enjoy a holiday.”
