• Citizens Against Burlington voted to pursue a United States Supreme Court hearing as they looked to stop the air cargo hub at Toledo Express Airport.
• Swanton Fourth of July activities to include an all ages dance, softball tournament, volleyball tournament, horseshoes competition, bingo, euchre, tug-o-war, greased pig chase, water balloon toss, pony rides, lip sync competition and fireworks.
50 Years Ago
• Swanton Citizens Education Council voted to recommend 18 classrooms, a permanent music room, library and gymnasium be added at the Park School site.
• Gilbert Urban of Swanton was wounded in combat in Vietnam for the second time in five months.
• Evergreen Board of Education votes to have Chesterfield and Fulton buildings serve as junior high schools. As a result, Fulton High School will be closed.

75 Years Ago

• Swanton’s Fourth of July Celebration will include dancing in front of the town hall on Lincoln Avenue.

• Playing at the LaFrance Theater in Swanton was “Billy The Kid” with Robert Taylor and Brian Donlevy.
