• Crestwood Elementary School welcomed Jennifer Bratton and Darla Jennewine as student teachers.

• Lead cast members in Swanton High School’s production of “Anything Goes” were Corey Notman, Leigh Robison, Bill Stoner, Jake Boyd, Sarah Sgro, and Meredith Ludwig.

• Lee’s Fashion Center, 116 N. Main St., held a grand opening.

• An Air National Guard plane crashed near the airport, injuring pilot Maj. James D. Boney of Toledo.

• A & P offered bananas for 13 cents per pound.

• The Swanton School received notification that it had been approved to have a school forest. It was also planned to bring in a supply of pine trees form the Swanton reservoir stock and arrange them as a windbreak behind the west bleachers and along the hill side on the west side of the field.
• Playing at the LaFrance Theatre in Swanton was “Leave it to Blondie” starring the Penny Singleton and Arthur Lake.
90 Years Ago
• Swanton mourned the death of Mrs. Leone Haynes Pilliod, wife of T.J. Pilliod, a prominent manufacturer.
• Swanton high school students witnessed the performance of champion typist George L. Hossfield. He gradually increased his speed until he hit 140 words per minute.
