• Three Swanton Odyssey of the Mind teams advanced to the state competition. One team included Tom Walsh, Jacob Boyd, Mike Mikosz, Michael Campesino, Adrianne Mikosz, Neil Loemker, and Reece Heineke. The second included Becky Franklin, Joni Ziarno, Nicole Godwin, Lona Haas, Amy Border, Michelle Taynor, and Ben Lang. The third was made up of Amy Shrader, Jill Pauly, Tim Clancy, Jessica Ruge, Erica Schmidt, Hannah Elton, and Nathan Howard.

• Evergreen’s Kyle Glecker won a state wrestling title.

• Members of the Swanton High School senior class presented the play “Harvey.” The cast included Ron Marsh, Heather Sine, Gay Wilbourne, Matt Beatty, and Kurt Dietsch.

• Richard Mosher, 13, was rescued from the icy water of the old Swanton Reservoir.

• The American Legion Murbach-Seifert Post hosted a wrestling show at a Rollatorium Skating Rink to raise money for war veterans. Wrestlers included Frankie Hart, Martino Angelo, and Tiger Moore.
• Playing at the La France Theatre in Swanton was “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” starring Gene Autry.
