The Swanton Middle School girls finished runner-up to Liberty Center at a home track and field invitational Saturday. The Bulldogs were fourth in the boys meet.

The Swanton Middle School girls track and field team placed second at a home invitational Saturday.

Liberty Center won the meet with 110.5 points, while the Bulldogs were runner-up with 104.5 points. The Swanton boys took fourth with 75 points.

First place finishers for the Swanton girls were Trista Eitniear in the shot put and discus and Brooke Dockery in the 800 meter run. Eitniear set a meet record in the discus with a throw of 93 feet, 6 inches, and Dockery did the same in the 800m with her time of 2:35.16. Dockery added a runner-up finish in the 400m.

The Dogs also had runner-up relay teams in both the 4×200 and 4×400.

Swanton’s Audrey Szalapski was second (13-9) in the long jump, while Frankie Nelson was second (77-3) in the discus. Megan Haselman and Clarissa Smith tied for third in the pole vault for the Dogs.

Winning for the Bulldog boys were Bryce Marvin in the shot put and discus, and Garrett Swank with a meet record of 8 feet, 9 inches in the pole vault.

Lathan Pawlowicz took second in the long jump. Placing third for Swanton was Austyn Gossett in the shot put.
