Swanton wrestling fourth at state after day one


Swanton is in fourth place at the state wrestling tournament following day one. Genoa is first with 19.5 points, followed by Massillon Tuslaw with 17.5, Rootstown with 15 and Swanton with 13.

Each of the five Bulldogs won one match.

At 126 pounds, Trevor Schaller beat Kaleb Nickels, Casstown Miami East, 7-5.

At 152 pounds, Chase Moore defeated Keringten Martin, Covington, 3-1. Ryan Marvin beat Grant Goecke of Ottawa-Glandorf 10-6 at 160 pounds.

At 285 pounds, Tommy Lytle pinned Josh Robinson of Shadyside in 2:48.

Zack Schaller dropped his first match 16-7 to Carter Wolf of Marion Pleasant at 120 pounds but responded in the first consolation round by pinning Konnor Duncan of Kirtland in 2:32.

They all move on to wrestle on Friday.
