Dogs slow down Eagles

Swanton girls basketball hosted Northern Buckeye Conference opponent Eastwood Thursday, defeating the Eagles 42-32.

Sidney Taylor paced the Bulldogs in scoring with 13 points. However, Haley Nelson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Cydney Christensen added 8 points for Swanton.

Eastwood’s Jamie Schmeltz finished with 10 points.

Swanton outrebounded Eastwood 33-31. Both teams had 24 turnovers, while Swanton had 18 points off turnovers.

It was a season-low in points for the Eagles as they had been averaging 65 points per contest.

Swanton (5-3) has three home games coming up this week. They welcome Holgate Tuesday, Delta in the NWOAL opener Friday, and Toledo Christian on Saturday.
