Swanton freshman impresses on the course

Swanton freshman, Carter Swank, placed first at the inaugural Brian Hoeflinger Memorial golf tournament held at Heatherdowns Country Club for the Toledo Junior Golf Association on Thursday.


Carter Swank, a Swanton high school freshman, placed first on July 16 at the inaugural Brian Hoeflinger Memorial tournament at Heatherdowns Country Club for the Toledo Junior Golf Association. He shot a 42 on nine holes to win.

Swank became a member of the TJGA in March and has been competing in tournaments around the area to get ready for his high school golf season which will begin Aug. 1. Swank has two other top five finishes so far this summer: He tied for fourth place with a nine hole score of 47 at a South Toledo course on June 30, and on July 2, placed second while shooting a 94 on 18 holes at Sycamore Hills in Fremont.
