Swanton softball dropped a home meeting with Pettisville last Tuesday, 7-6.
Pettisville played the game strong and got the win despite a strong sixth inning rally from the Bulldogs.
A 2-run home run from Pettisville’s Jasmyn Barton gave the Blackbirds an early lead over the Dogs. Sami Tiller, Andrea Flory, Kyra Behnfeldt, Amber Klopfenstein and Kaija Blosser all connected for singles for the Blackbirds. Behnfeldt also pitched the whole game, allowing nine hits and striking out 12 Swanton batters.
Swanton had a few rough early innings, but hit their stride in the sixth, putting four runs on the board and giving a strong rally attempt. McMahan led the Bulldogs with a double and a single. Sophomore Haley Nelson had a pair of singles, and Olivia Williams connected for a huge triple.
Senior Abby Lawson was in the circle for the entire game for the Bulldogs, allowing eight hits and serving up five strikeouts in the loss.
The Bulldogs are back in action today when they host Lake at 4:30 p.m.
