The Swanton softball team has a positive attitude heading into the 2016 campaign, with eight starters and two all-league performers returning.

Emily Callicotte was the Bulldogs’ only player to graduate after last season. She was first team All-NWOAL in 2015.

Back for the Bulldogs are pitcher Abby Lawson and first baseman Taylor Dohm, each honorable mention all-league a season ago, as well as Hayley McMahan (C), Hannah Gombash (OF), Karah Kohlman (1B/3B), Haley Nelson (OF/IF), Taylor Pelland (SS), Deanna Herr (OF), and Olivia Williams (IF).

Strengths for the team, according to coach Joe Nye, include team speed, defense, and a good attitude. He also emphasizes the fact that he has eight letter winners returning.

In the league, Nye says that Archbold and Evergreen are the front-runners for the title, with the Blue Streaks having the edge.

The Dogs are just hopeful they can improve upon last year’s 11-15 record.
