Junior High Bulldogs qualify 5 for state tournament

Swanton had five wrestlers qualify for The OAC Junior High State Wrestling Tournament to be held at the Covelli Center in Youngstown March 12-13.

To qualify, each wrestler had to place in the top six in his weight class at one of the eight district tournaments held across Ohio over the last two weekends.

Brodie Stevens was the first Bulldog to qualify as he placed sixth in the heavyweight division at the Norwalk District Feb. 14.

The other four wrestlers qualified at The Oregon Clay District Feb. 21. Tyler Gowing took second place in the 126-pound weight class. Xavier Wiemken was third at 146 pounds. Tyler Anderson came back to take fifth at 96 pounds, and Ian Saunders placed sixth at 102 pounds.
