Swanton High School grapplers compete at Fricker’s Duals


DEFIANCE – The Swanton wrestling team put together a respectable 4-6 record over the weekend at the Fricker’s Duals, one of the more difficult duals tournaments in the area.

The Bulldogs had several tight matches, including three decided by one point. They beat Tinora 40-39 on criteria, fell to Hudson, Mich. 40-39 on criteria, and fell to Elmwood 39-38.

Swanton also defeated Waite 77-6, Gahanna Lincoln 42-36, and Defiance 42-31.

The Bulldogs lost to Perrysburg 40-29, Richmond, Mich. 37-30, Hartland, Mich 60-24, and Mechanicsburg 47-28.

The Michigan schools are highly ranked in their state, with Hartland ranked in the top 40 nationally. Hartland won the 20 team tournament, finishing 10-0.
