Raising awareness of domestic violence through 5K race

The First Annual Joy Center 5K for Domestic Violence Awareness will take place Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Fulton County Fairgrounds., located at 8514 State Highway 108 north of Wauseon. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the race to begin at 9 a.m., rain or shine.

The registration fee is $25.

The form, plus $20 can be mailed to The Joy Center for Women’s Ministry, PO Box 238, Wauseon, Ohio 43567. Please try to mail the entry materials before Oct. 7 to secure pre-registration rate and to reserve a race T-shirt. This 5K event is being organized by The Joy Center for Women’s Ministry. The center, located at 410 N. Shoop Ave., offers support for women who are going through domestic violence as well as other situations. All support is provided by trained volunteer women who have gone through similar problems.

The center decided to organize a 5K run to help gain an awareness of domestic violence in Northwest Ohio and Fulton County. All proceeds will go to the Joy Center for Women’s Ministry for their outreach activities in this area.
