A pair of hotly contested races for township trustee each saw one challenger and one incumbent elected, according to unofficial results.
In Swancreek Township, political newcomer Travis Weigel had the most votes in the township trustee race. Incumbent Rick Kazmierczak was second in the vote total, according to unofficial results, to retain his seat.
Overall votes were Weigel with 912, Kazmierczak 747, Brian Meyer 697, Kevin Cordle 435, and Bob Stack 157.
Swanton area voters proved to be the difference for the winners. In the Village of Swanton, Weigel totalled 267 votes and Kazmierczak 189 to build a large lead over Meyer, who had 61 in the village.
Weigel and Kazmierczak were also the top vote-getters in the East One and East Two precincts. Meyer received the most votes in the Liberty Center, West One and West Two precincts.
The other incumbent, Ron Holdeman, did not seek re-election.
In Spencer Township, incumbent Shawn P. Valentine received 227 votes to retain his seat. But challenger Kris C. Ruhl and incumbent Michael B. Hood were neck and neck and it appears at this time that Ruhl has won a seat. Ruhl had 179 votes and Hood 178.
After that is was Adam Thomas with 112 votes, Dean Crosky with 101 and Jacqueline Dale with 71.
The three seats on the Evergreen Board of Education went to Jason Miller with 1,004 votes, Matt Vaculik with 977, and Donald W. Smith with 855. Others were Ken Kormanyos with 760 and Jeff Pawlaczyk with 685.
Swanton Council: Kathy Kreuz 503, Michael Rochelle 439, Paul Dzyak 406, Craig Rose 367.
Swanton Board of Education: Steve Brehmer 1,195, Kristina Oberheim 1,075, Autumn D. Adams 953.
Metamora Council: Brooke Smith 96, John M. Pupos 92, Justin Kreischer 88, Richard O. Sauerlender.
Fulton Township Trustee: Joe E. Gombash 516, Bernard Wanner 327.
Amboy Township Trustee: Jeffrey Simon 421, Richard Raab 340.
PDY Board of Education: Michael Mattin 894, Michael P. Ford 805.
