Alpaca farm holding open house

Sunny Meade Alpacas Ltd. of Swanton will hold an open house Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The public is welcome to visit the farm to meet the alpacas and learn about their inquisitive nature, the luxury fiber they produce, and the business of raising them. The day will feature “alpaca yoga” in the pasture, a presentation by Myers Honey, a children’s story time with the alpacas, and sessions about raising the animals.

The farm’s fiber arts studio will demonstrate turning alpaca fiber into fabric, and Shannon Anderson, along with Sara Box of Bitter Buffalo Fiberworks, will demonstrate the art of hand spinning yarn. The Fulton County Humane Society will bring kittens for adoption, and Nature’s Nursery will feature other country animals.

Vendors will include All Things Alpaca Apparel, Myers Honey, Maggie Trzcinski Pottery, and Sunshine Inc. of Northwest Ohio.

Sunny Meade Alpacas is located at 7770 Providence Neapolis Swanton Road between Grand Rapids and Swanton. The rain date will be Sunday, Oct. 15, with limited activities.
