SACC plans Fifth Quarter

Volunteers needed for Sept. 11 youth event

After the Swanton High School football game on Sept. 11 against Woodmore, Swanton Area Community Coalition (SACC) will be providing refreshments and activities for the area youth, with funding provided by the Swanton American Legion family. The event theme by the American Legion will be “Freedom: Rocking Around the Clock.”

The Fifth Quarter events are the most popular events held by SACC. This event allows a safe, drug-free activity for students to attend after football games, which can be a high substance abuse evenings. The event itself is held in the school gymnasium so students can walk directly over after the game. It is anticipated that over 200 students will attend each one of these events throughout the school year.

SACC is a volunteer community group working together to create a strong, caring community, empowered to build excellence in the youth in both character and action. The coalition promotes substance free community events and activities.

SACC brings together businesses, organizations and other concerned adults to work for the reduction and prevention of substance abuse in Swanton.

SACC is in need of adult volunteers at the Fifth Quarter from 9-11:30 p.m. Call 419-826-1222 or email Andrea Smith at swantoncoalition@gmail.com if interested. Smith can also be contacted by those who would like to be a sponsor or donate.
