Swanton High School will participate in the Goodwill Pass It on Challenge this week leading up to the football game on Friday at Start High School. The two high schools face off during the week to collect the most donations for Goodwill.
Last year, Goodwill received 140,000 pounds of donated items.
During the week, Goodwill accepts donations of clothing and household items at each school’s donation trailer from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Receipts for tax deductible donations are available.
Items accepted include clothing, gently used furniture, small appliances and books. Computers and television screens will not be accepted.
“All schools are winners when you donate to Goodwill” said President and CEO Amy Wachob. “Money raised from the sale of the donated items stays right here in Northwest Ohio to help people with special needs or barriers to employment get jobs.”
Each Thursday evening, the trailers are picked up and weighed. The school with the most donations in weight is announced on 13abc Action Sports on Friday and is awarded a $500 scholarship. The winning school is also recognized at halftime of the game of the week.
