The Toledo Post of the Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a motorcycle. The crash occurred Sunday at approximately 12:27 p.m., in the intersection of Old State Line and Wilkins roads, in Harding Township.
Kevin Jones, 60, of Metamora, was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle north bound on Wilkins Road. Jones failed to stop for a stop sign, at the intersection of Old State Line Road, and was struck by a 1996 GMC Jimmy being driven west bound by William Leininger, 48, of Toledo, according to authorities.
Jones, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and flown to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where he later died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Leininger, and his passengers, were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by Spencer Township Fire & EMS, Lucas County Life Squad, Mercy Life Flight & the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
