SHS students invited to BGSU for lecture series

Among the Swanton students at the lecture series were Sara Turner; Madalyn Silveous; Maxwell Wegener-Crow and Tanner Prentice.

Members of the Swanton accounting program were invited as guests to Bowling Green State University to the SEBO Lecture Series In Entrepreneurship. Students were allowed to meet, greet and listen to a variety of high ranking members of the corporate world.

The featured speaker of the event was Dr. John Kelly III, Senior Vice President of IBM, and Director of the Watson Supercomputer project. Students were able to hear from corporate leaders how technology is in its “exponential growth phase,” and were introduced to new technologies around the globe that will soon be introduced to the marketplace.

Swanton students were also put in teams with other high school students from Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland to develop a new technology idea to present and be judged by Dr. Kelly on its function, marketability and cost effectiveness.

Students are part of the Swanton accounting program that is funded through Penta Career Center. Swanton students also receive dual-enrollment college credit with their high school course work.

Among the Swanton students at the lecture series were Sara Turner; Madalyn Silveous; Maxwell Wegener-Crow and Tanner Prentice.
