Wednesday, June 17

Teen Anime Club for grades 6-12, 4-5:30 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Come to the library for an afternoon all about anime and otakudom! Watch an episode or two of an anime chosen by the attendees, play other geeky videos if requested, and do other fun activities. Snacks will also be provided. Participants are welcome to come in cosplay, anime or otherwise. No registration required. Free.

Police Heroes for grades 3, 4, and 5, Swanton Public Library, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Find out more about what the police and detectives do – from a real police officer. Children who just completed these grades are invited. Free! No registration required.

Swanton Board of Education will meet at the 7 p.m. at the board of education building, 108 N. Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

Thursday, June 18

Medicare, Social Security, and Retirement Assistance, 10 a.m., Swanton Public Library. Cheryl Witt of the Fulton County Senior Center will work with individuals with questions pertaining to the above. Appointments are required – to schedule yours, contact Cheryl at 419-337-9299.

Heroes of the Police for grades K, 1, and 2, 10:30 a.m., Swanton Public Library. Find out more about what the police and detectives do – from a real police officer! Children who just completed these grades are invited. Free! No registration required.

Impressionistic Painting Class, 5-8 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Join artist Sandy Wheeler as she guides students through the process of creating a beautiful spring painting using Q-tips, toothpicks and paper towels. A sample painting can be viewed at the library. Sew-In!, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Bring your sewing machine, a bag lunch, and any project you’d like to work on to this gathering. Have fun chatting and sewing with a break for lunch in the park (weather permitting). Free and open to everyone.

Monday, June 22

Swanton Village Council will meet at the village hall, 219 Chestnut Street at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. Public Service and Public Safety Committees will meet prior to the meeting at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, June 23

Swanton Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Swanton Township Hall, 13410 Airport Highway. The public is welcome to attend.

Storytime, 10:30 a.m., Swanton Public Library. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 6 months to 5 years. This session runs Tuesdays through July 28. Children will play and learn about heroes of all kinds through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Eco Heroes with ECO Discovery! for grades 3, 4, and 5, 10:30-11:30 a.m., Swanton Public Library. Meet real animals who can camouflage themselves and more. Free. No registration required.

Marvel Fandemonium for grades 6-12, 4-5:30 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Join other fans at the library for an afternoon celebrating Marvel in all its forms – comics, TV, and movies! Participants are welcome to dress up or bring anything they’d like to share. Snacks, videos, prizes, and other fun stuff included. Open to those who just completed grades 6-12. Free.

Weekly/Monthly Event

Swanton Garden Club will hold monthly meetings. They will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call Jan Heyman at 419-206-2047 or Elfrieda Jewell at 419-826-4129 prior to the meeting to find out the location.

Family Caregivers forum, last Tuesday of each month, 3 p.m. or 7 p.m., 214 S. Munson Road, Swanton. Family members who are or will be caregivers are invited to a monthly forum. The Fulton County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society meets the second Tuesday of the month except July and August at 7 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 Taylor St., Delta. Speakers, programs, research tips. Public welcome.

OPERS Fulton County Chapter 29 meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Wauseon Senior Center.

Helping Other Parents Experiencing Grief (HOPE) is a support group that meets the third Monday of every month, except December, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fulton County Health Center meeting room. HOPE offers support for parents who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or the death of infants, young children and teenagers due to illness or accident. The Quilt Bear Cafe Club is a monthly club that features a monthly “cup” of quilting. They meet the third Saturday of every month at The Quilt Bear Studio, 13115 Angola Road, Swanton, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and enjoy sewing time with friends, a light lunch, door prizes and more.
