Cook-off fundraiser planned for Eagles’ contest

On Saturday there will be a Soup Cook-Off fundraiser for the God, Flag, and Country Committee of the Delta Eagles. There will be a band following dinner, and both the dinner and the entertainment are open to the public.

God, Flag, and Country is a program designed for students 10-15 years of age (as of Jan. 31 this year), in which each entrant has up to three minutes to present his/her thoughts about God or Flag or Country, or any combination thereof. Costumes and props are allowed, but not required.

Information has been in all school districts, including the parochials, since last month.

This is the fourth year for the Delta contest (Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.), and it will be at the Aerie, 304 Main Street. Last year students from all four of the schools within our jurisdiction (Delta, Evergreen, Swanton, and Wauseon) participated, a first.

For this Saturday’s soup cook-off, if anyone wishes to enter, please contact Tim Churchill at 419-822-3736 or at tkchurchill@roadrunner.com by no later than Thursday at 9 p.m. Please leave a message if no one is home, including your name, telephone number or email, and the name of the soup you are entering.

Entrants will pay $5 to enter a soup (it must be delivered to the Eagles by 5 p.m. Saturday in your own slow cooker/crock pot. Diners will also be charged $5 to sample any or all of the soups, and they will also serve as the judges. Prizes will be paid out to the winners.

Following dinner, Liberty Rose will be playing, and there will be raffles and other games as part of the fundraiser. Delta’s winners of the God, Flag, and Country contest will travel to Defiance in April for the Zone contest, and the money raised will help defray their expenses.

For any questions, call Mr. Churchill or send him an email.
