A new improvement at the Swanton Water Plant is already paying dividends. Village water had been out of compliance for trihalomethanes (TTHM), but the Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) system has led to a decrease in rates below the mark required by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
The Village of Swanton will host a Public Open House to tour the Water Plant on State Route 64 (Waterville Swanton Road) on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This tour is for everyone interested in understanding the Swanton water system and specifically to explain the $2.1 million GAC improvement completed this year.
“The new GAC system that went active this summer has already showed great potential,” said Craig Rose, Swanton Council President. “Swanton water is now in compliance with EPA standards as the TTHM levels are much lower than they were last year at this time.”
