Swanton juniors from the accounting program were recently invited to Bowling Green State University to attend Finances 101.

This event matches each student up with a career and a set salary level. Students will then have to decide on the purchase of homes, cars, insurances and other normal budget items.

Volunteers will then walk them through a “game of life” that gives them circumstances that are planned and unplanned. Students finish with a realistic approach to financial planning, investing and saving.

The event is funded through Directions Credit Union. Swanton accounting students are in a two year program funded through Penta Career Center and are receiving college accounting credits through the College Credit Plus Option.
