• Swanton High School students Lewis Taylor and Jeanne Davidson earned high ratings at the state music contest.

• The Board of Education of Swancreek Township filed a petition for permission to hold a special election to erect a centralized school. The new building would replace the Utah, Blake, Brailey, Lutz, Raker, Wagner, and Gately schools.

• A new group was formed in Swanton to obtain factories, industry in Swanton. Walter Hallett was elected chairman.

• Playing at the LaFrance Theater in Swanton was “Buck Privates” with Bud Abbot, Lou Costello, and The Andrews Sisters.
